[Confession] To All the Boys I've Loved Before

So what does Netflix’s latest offering, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, bring to the table? The film is based on the novel of the same name by writer Jenny Han which is about the sweet tale of first love romance.

Here is the synopsis of the movie:

What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them...all at once? Lara Jean Song Covey's love life goes from imaginary to out of control when the love letters for every boy she's ever loved-five in all-- are mysteriously mailed out. From New York Times Bestselling Author, Jenny Han, the film adaption of the popular YA novel stars actress Lana Condor (Alita: Battle Angel, X-Men: Apocalypse) and Noah Centineo (Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, The Fosters).

How many times have we seen a teen-romance with a predictable ending? Far too many times. It's almost Disney-stuff. Having read the book, I approached the movie with low expectations, maybe barring one, to be bored to death with its all too foreseeable outcomes. However, the casting and its narrative treatment surprised me in the first half.

The characters I imagined in the book sprang out and gave life. They looked like what I imagined-especially Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky. And they're all undeniably sweet. Even though its cliche, there's this pleasant and perfectly relatable situation comedy about a 16-year-old's awkward first attempts at dating that kept me going. And in a hindsight, this is a movie that believes that people are generally nice and good and deserve love, and that when you love someone you should be nice and good to them, and do such things as sit next to them on the school bus and buy them their favorite yogurt beverages. It is profoundly pure of heart that made me giggle a few couple of times.

See, disney-stuff.
