[Contemplation] One Week Friends
Were you friendzoned before or are you feeling like you're going to be friendzoned? Wait no more! Because One Week Friends movie, starring Kento Yamazaki (again) and Haruna Kawaguchi, will rub their story onto your open wounds like a rubbing alcohol: It heals you in the process but it still fcken hurts.
Here is the synopsis of the movie:
High school student Yuki Hase (Kento Yamazaki) wants to become close with classmate Kaori Fujimiya (Haruna Kawaguchi) who is alway by herself. Kaori Fujimiya refuses to become close with Yuki Hase, because she forgets her friends every new Monday. Even though Kaori tells Yuki why she doesn't want to become friends, Yuki still wants to become close to her.
This movie is a manga adaptation from the same name which stars a manga-loving guy Yuki Hase who just wants to befriend a memory-impaired girl Kaori Fujiyama. This teenage puppy love teaches you all the wonders of Friendship. One week friends is meant to be heartwarming and does a pretty proper job at it.
It's undeniable that the plot has been done and over with. Which is to say that the melodrama used is completely formulaic - the ones you’ve seen one on Asian TV series and/or Western movie shows, you will be able to predict the plot beats. The good thing about this was the characters were so earnest, and the leads were so cute, that you’d have to be a cynic with a heart of stone to not be swayed. The characters were wonderful, likable and most importantly believable. It's not hard to sympathize with anyone because you can relate. Oh and importantly, friendzoning.
If you're in the mood to watch something light and bubbly yet a bit cheesy too with a not so perfect boy and a girl with some serious memory issues, then One Week Friends is the perfect Friday night movie for you and your (girl) friends. It's nothing special but it's still worth the time.
