[Confession] Fight My Way Episode 1

Before anything else, I would like to define my drama reviewing:

First, I won't be posting episode recaps for dramas because i don't trust my character - I tend to get lazy when I have routines to accomplish and

Second, sometimes when I decide to watch a drama, I depend my continuance on the first episode. So if ever I am interested in a drama, I will watch the first episode and I will review it just to see how it goes. If I liked it, I'll have a continuation review after I finished the whole thing.

Kke, let's go! :D

*minor spoiler alert*

Upon the continuation on my K-drama First Episode Hunt, I stumbled on the next drama that caught my attention, the comeback rom-com drama of both Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won - Fight My Way!

Here is the synopsis of the drama:

Follow the story about four individuals who are considered as “third-rate lives” for their lack of abilities, young adults with mediocre specs just struggling to survive, and the blossoming romance between two immature friends Go Dong-man (Park Seo-joon) and Choi Ae-ra (Kim Ji-won) whose childish dynamic hasn’t changed despite reaching adulthood.

Don’t you just love it when a new drama gets you excited about its potential and trailers? KBS’s coming-of-age-for-the-second-time romcom, Fight My Way, starts out bright and funny, with quirky characters that I find cute. But it’s not all sweetness and light… there’s an undercurrent of discontent and regrets you'll see in their faces but won't know the story yet -- those were my first impressions.

But it wasn't like that halfway. Unlike The Best Hit, Fight My Ways' Episode 1 didn't won me over. It disappointed me because I didn't see the spark and there were moments I find corny. It’s light and cute, with relatable moments about the struggles of youth. I also like our main couple’s bickering relationship, and I find them adorably dim about their budding feelings for each other. But the close friendship portrayed by Kim Ji-won and Park Seo-joon feels a little forced, and I found them more convincing in their brief intimate moments of vulnerability. They can act themselves being close but I can't feel it from them. Maybe the thing that can keep me going is the curiousity to know what happened to him in November of 2007 to make him give up his dreams so vehemently that he denies they ever even existed. Also the relation of that girl who recently got divorced.

I like the Theme it gives. That even if you're average and an idiot in the past, it wouldn't matter much when you grow up. It'll always vary on your decisions to be better. It would be great to see these four friends support each other as they go after their once-lost ambitions, whether they be big ones like becoming a famous news anchor, or small ones like being the very best housewife you can be. No dream is worthless if it’s a person’s true desire, and it’s never, ever too late.
