[Confession] I Am Your Destiny Episode 1
Before anything else, I would like to define my drama reviewing:
First, I won't be posting episode recaps for dramas because i don't trust my character - I tend to get lazy when I have routines to accomplish and
Second, sometimes when I decide to watch a drama, I depend my continuance on the first episode. So if ever I am interested in a drama, I will watch the first episode and I will review it just to see how it goes. If I liked it, I'll have a continuation review after I finished the whole thing.
Kke, let's go! :D
When I told you I was ditching Kdrama, I was serious. Haha! So when I was looking for something non-korean, I was shocked to see I Am Your Destiny or Boku Unmei no Hito desu already airing! The Seishun Amigo bros Kamenashi Kazuya and Yamashita Tomohisa reunites once again!! *fangirling mode on*
Here is the synopsis of the drama:
Masaki Makoto and Kogetsu Haruko are both 29 years old and single. Since they were children, they have passed each other at various places like on the beach and shrines. Yet, the two are not aware of each other at all. One day, a man appears in front of Makoto and introduces himself as God. He tells Makoto about his destined soulmate and that she works next door. When he faces Haruko, he tells her "I'm your destiny."
It was my dream that one day, I'll go back to watching J-dramas. I don't know why but I just stopped watching it and lean towards J-movies instead. And finallyyy I'm back on track because of this! I saw this airing on its 2nd episode and I'm contemplating weather I'd go watch it or wait until it's finished but all hell loose when I only planned to watch the Episode 1 and couldn't stop then. Now I'm craving for more but to no avail huhu Unlike Kdramas, Jdramas only has 11-13 episodes but airs once a week, and for this drama - every Saturday.
Truthfully, the first 10 minutes of the drama was boring. I didn't know who was who and the atmosphere of the drama felt old and used. But after Yamapi appeared (no bias with this hahaha) everything suddenly made sense and interesting. And that old and used atmosphere was something I found unique and loved in J-dramas. Plus, the prologue totally made sense! 'If Beethoven's parents didn't fell in love and didn't had a child, there would be no Beethoven.' So the two main characters here are destined to be each other because apparently, their child will later on save the world from destruction - I mean, why not?
I like the fact that their past brings on so much coincidences and their destiny literally makes way for them to meet. I also like the fact that Kazuya's main problem is how to get the girl without appearing too creepy lol. And I also like the girl. She's easy on the eyes and not a damsel in distress type. Yamapi's character as a self-proclaimed God got me thinking if he's really just a God or Cupid Hahaha either way, his character has me asking more questions, too.
Other than the Nobuta wo Produce feels, I also feel Proposal Daisakusen (my fave!) kicking in - that some realizations often come unnoticed 'til in the end - which I would be delighted if that's the technique mostly used. It'll make me push next Episode again and again.
So for now, I can say I am ready to wait for more episodes of I Am Your Destiny. I've waited for almost a decade for this reunion, so why would a couple of weeks demotivate me otherwise?
