[Confession] Itazura na Kiss The Movie: High School
There are nights when you think of your First love, that love which sticks to you because it's the only thing that you connected with. But most of all, taught you a lesson. You then started to have your daily routine back when one day you saw your first love again and everything in you came alive. That thing that you will never truly get over, even when you've convinced yourself you've moved on.
That's what happened to me when I saw this movie of Itazura na Kiss!! When I only happen to finish the Taiwan version last week, I thought I could move on but this appeared and was inconsiderate of my feelings!! --WHAT? You thought this was something else?
Here is the synopsis of the drama:
A love between high school students Naoki (Kanta Sato) and Kotoko (Reina Visa). Naoki is handsome, good at sports and smart. Even though Kotoko is not very smart, she has a bright personality and strong will.
If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I love any Itazura na Kiss adaptations. And this movie apparently, covers the High School part only. I scratched my head and wondered: why do that?
Why do they have to remake a story when they don't bother changing anything? It was EXACTLY the same with the anime/manga except for some scenes which still came from other remakes. Why don't you make your own branding, get what I mean? It was a waste of money. If you have watched or read the original series - you will be comparing how badly this was made in comparison.
This is by far the most boring adaptation I've seen. The actors/actresses playing the characters were so hyperbolic. They were sometimes okay to watch, but the squealing and acting annoyed the hell out of me - especially the mother.
But because I'm sometimes kind, there were points which were fine with me. The actor and actress of Irie Naoki and Aihara Kotoko were dolled up similar to the original characters of the manga. They did not act the part, but still the resemblance was uncanny. Another thing was how they trimmed the drama down to a movie. At first I was skeptic on how they were able to fit the series in 2 hours, but was surprised to see how clean they cut these scenes. A lot of scenes were combined, some were taken out but everything still made sense. I was happy with that.
I heard that this comes with a sequel which sets in their College life. Again, why bother having a remake and complicate things when you don't change anything? But what the hell, I'll be following future sequels as well. I just didn't like the fact that they had this chance and this could have been so much more.
