[Confession] My Introverted Boss Episode 1

Before anything else, I would like to define my drama reviewing:

First, I won't be posting episode recaps for dramas because i don't trust my character - I tend to get lazy when I have routines to accomplish and

Second, sometimes when I decide to watch a drama, I depend my continuance on the first episode. So if ever I am interested in a drama, I will watch the first episode and I will review it just to see how it goes. If I liked it, I'll have a continuation review after I finished the whole thing.

Kke, let's go! :D

From the creators of the hilarious tvN drama Marriage not Dating, comes back with a new drama My Introverted Boss with a concept of hilarity from an extremely shy guy (Yeon Woo Jin), dealing with his polar opposite employee (Park Hye Soo).

Here is the synopsis of the drama:

Eun Hwan-Ki (Yeon Woo-Jin) is the CEO of a public relations company, but he is extremely shy. Due to his personality, even his employees do not know him well.

Chae Ro-Woon (Park Hye-Soo) begins work at Eun Hwan-Ki’s company. She is very energetic and receives recognition for her work, but her only interest is in CEO Eun Hwan-Ki. She plans to reveal who Eun Hwan-Ki really is. (cr.asianwiki)

I like the theme My Introverted Boss brings. I like that it depicts a sensitive mental issue and trouble it meets that resonate most from the society today. I already feel for and empathize with Hwan Ki as a fellow introvert, but I think everyone can identify with how frustrating it is when you’re dying to get something off your chest, but you just can’t for one reason or another. Or when someone steals your idea and takes credit for something that originated from you, in addition to the knowledge that others perceive you in an inaccurate and unflattering light. When is it ever fun to be misunderstood? That's how relatable Hwan Ki's character is. His facial expressions and language are tensed that most people find funny cause sure, there’s humor to be found in his flaws, but social anxiety is quite serious.

I wasn't expecting any dark undercurrent throughout the drama but it popped in the first five minutes. I expect it to be light since this is suppose to be a romantic-comedy. But I do think it's okay. We can't always live in fluff and fun. I also like the fact that they compare the scenes to musical plays and that's one of the things I really love.

After all the praises I gave for Hwan Ki, Ro Woon's character is totally the polar opposite of what I regard. The character she's suppose to play is an extrovert girl whose in revenge for the shy boss - but all I saw was a rude and nosy character whose out throwing accusations based from random clues she's strung together. She also looks too young to be the female lead. For me, she's like a pesky little sister instead of a love interest. I do hope that notion will change - especially her character. The writer should specifically give attention to the pathetic character she's given life to because being extrovert doesn't mean you'll be uncivil to anyone you don't like.

Still, the plot is promising. I'm truly looking forward to the gradual change of Hwan Ki (and Ro Woon) because the theme of having mental issue is to overcome it, isn't it? Perhaps My Introverted Boss will not only inform us how introverts think and act but also teach ourselves not to judge and misunderstand them without knowing them well. *winks*
