[Featured] 2016 Year in Review: Kdramas I Cared About, Part 1

As an avid follower of Asian Dramas and upon the creation of my blog later this year, I knew that by doing this - pure satisfaction is what I will get from summarizing all the Dramas I've watched, weighing what struck my heart the most this year 2016. I was just wondering last January what to watch and now it's December! Can you believe it?! Where did my year gooooo.

Reasons as to why I've watch these dramas may vary from having too much time in my hands (psh, impossible) or that they're the talk of the town or maybe because I was curious and I just had to try it even if it's old. This may be lengthy, but bear with me when I say that you might take into consideration tasting the Kdramas I Cared About This Year:

"Another Oh Hae Young"

Another Oh Hae Young is a tvN drama who took the nation by surprise because of its unique romantic story line with premonitions and two girls sharing the same name and ties them in different unfortunate situations.

"Cheese in the Trap"

Another tvN drama that was adapted from a popular webtoon with the same name. Cheese in the Trap's radically distinctive male lead character and relatable female lead gained love from its viewers - starting out so special and fresh and interesting.

"Descendants of the Sun"

Descendants of the Sun was 100% pre-produced, broadcast on KBS, and sparked a Hallyu wave that cemented the star status of several of its lead actors. The drama was Song Joong Ki’s first project following his military enlistment and fittingly told the story of a soldier and an army doctor who fall in love. (cr. soompi)

"Doctors"

Yay! One of the few first dramas I reviewed in my blog! Doctors is about a troublemaker student who then aspires to be a Doctor of Neurosurgery after the unjustified death of her grandmother in a medical operation.

"Entertainer"

Entertainer is a sweet journey of aspiring musicians who had different plights before they met each other. Realizing their dreams and true friends for the love of good is what really matters in this fun little show.

"Moonlight Drawn By Clouds"

Ah the Historical drama that broke passed my barriers. Moonlight Drawn By Clouds is a gender-bender drama that's about a crown prince who falls in love with a eunuch (a castrated man who serves the palace) who is really a woman posing as a man. This is the drama that quadrupled Park Bo Gum's increasing popularity in the Hallyu wave!

"Lucky Romance"

Lucky Romance is where the Rom-Com Queen Hwang Jung Eum gets partnered with our 'almost Duk Seon's husband' Ryu Joon Yeol! This drama is about an improbable couple who tries to overcome superstitions and prove that they are not bound by destiny.

"Moorim School"

Moorim School is a school for special teens with special powers (like Hogwarts!!) who trains their students not only academically, but also on self defense, meditation, communication, friendship, honesty, sacrifice, faith.. (what?)

"Signal"

This tvN drama was also 100% pre-produced and drew in high viewership ratings and critical praise for its unique storyline. Signal tells the story of two law enforcement teams who work together to solve cold cases using a mysterious radio that can transmit signals from the past and the future. (cr. soompi)

"W - Two Worlds"

W - Two Worlds is a creative drama about a romance which takes place between Kang Chul, who is super rich and exist in the webtoon “W,” and Oh Yeon-Joo who is a surgeon in the real world. The freshness of its sci-fi, manhwa and meta-dramaland draws its audience to a whole new concept of K dramas.

"Please Come Back, Mister"

Please Come Back, Mister is a drama about two ahjussi (old men) who were about to board the train to Heaven but decides to go back to Earth and fulfill their unfinished businesses - as a hot guy and a sexy girl.

So my list are quite few compared to the dramas that were aired for the whole year but these are the dramas that I've thoroughly finished and enjoyed. There were some dramas that I watched and didn't get to finish, dramas that I'm still planning to watch in the future, and some that currently airs in South Korea that I'm following now.

Well, I'll be mentioning them anyway to suffice the second part of this review. Yay!

Dramas I Almost Loved/Will Love/Am Loving:

• Cinderella and Four Knights

• Entourage

• Hwarang: The Beginning

• Goblin

• Legend of the Blue Sea

• Let's Fight Ghost

• The K2

• Madame Antoine

• Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

• Uncontrollably Fond

• Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo

So for now, the above mentioned dramas are the things I enjoyed the most this year.

Do wait for the Part 2 of this post to know my 2016 Kdrama verdict!!

Sit back and enjoy the fresh air! Weeeee
