[Contemplation] Kuroko no Basuke Season 1
Kuroko no Basuke (Kuroko's Basketball) is an alternative fun sports anime when you want to watch something other than Slamdunk.
Here's the synopsis of the anime:
The basketball team of Teiko Middle School rose to distinction by demolishing all competition. The regulars of the team became known as the "Generation of Miracles". After graduating from middle school, these five stars went to different high schools with top basketball teams. However, a fact few know is that there was another player in the "Generation of Miracles": a phantom sixth man. This mysterious player is now a freshman at Seirin High, a new school with a powerful, if little-known, team. Now, Tetsuya Kuroko – "the sixth member of the "Generation of Miracles", and Taiga Kagami – a naturally talented player who spent most of middle school in the US, aim to bring Seirin to the top of Japan and begin taking on Kuroko's former teammates one by one. The series chronicles Seirin's rise to become Japan's number one high school team. The rest of the Generation of Miracles include Ryota Kise, Shintaro Midorima, Daiki Aomine, Atsushi Murasakibara and Seijuro Akashi.
Sorry to anyone if ever I'm comparing Kuroko no Basuke to Slamdunk. I'm not much of a fan of sports anime but I have my days when I just want to watch court/field sports action. And these is one of those days. (I actually craved because UAAP just finished lol)
The Season 1 of Kuroko no Basuke focuses on the Seirin High School team fighting through the Inter-High Championship and discovering skills and planning games for the team. After the Inter-High comes the Winter Cup that they started training for. We met three of the Generation of Miracles and I'm excited to know more about the other two. You'll like what's happening in the game but it tires me out sometimes when all I watch is about games (backstory anyone?) - but maybe I'm impatient so I'm still rooting to watch Season 2 and Season 3, btw!
Anyway, I like how Kuroko (small blue-haired guy) already established a name for himself as a basketball player instead of having no knowledge of basketball and just happens to join a B-ball club. Kagami (the tall red-head guy), on the other hand, is the opposite of Kuroko - whose always calm and composed - Kagami has his own world of aggressiveness and dreams of beating great players of Basketball (specifically Generation of Miracles). Now these two becomes a duo that wants to prove that individual skills aren't only the important thing a player has to have - it's also about teamwork and wanting to win because your team worked hard to achieve it. It is also about improving your capabilities when you thought you're already at your limit.
If you liked Slamdunk, you'd surely like this anime as well. It may not be as funny as Slamdunk but you'll love it because it focuses on the thing it does best: Basketball.
