[Confession] Now You See Me
To start this off, I have never been a total fan of American movies. Yes, I do watch them and some American movies till now stays in my heart but I'm not someone whose constantly waiting for a movie to come out after I saw an article or on news. I'm not as eager as I am when I wait for Asian movies. So most of the movies I have seen were based on Pop culture which means I only watch them because they’re popular and not because I personally like them. However though, there are some movies that I personally came to like after seeing - and one big example is Now You See Me.
Here is a brief synopsis of the movie:
Four magicians each answer a mysterious summons to an obscure address with secrets inside. A year later, they are the Four Horseman, big time stage illusionists who climax their sold out Las Vegas show with a bank apparently robbed for real. This puts agents Dylan Rhodes of the FBI and Alma Vargas of Interpol on the case to find out how they did it. However, this mystery proves difficult to solve even with the insights of the professional illusion exposer, Thaddeus Bradley. What follows is a bizarre investigation where nothing is what it seems with illusions, dark secrets and hidden agendas galore as all involved are reminded of a great truth in this puzzle: the closer you look, the less you see. Now You See Me which is Directed by Louis Leterrier, is a Crime and Suspense with a touch of wittiness. I specifically found this amusing because of the magical acts they performed. I was like a child in a circus royale when I watched this. All the casts performed well and I find the twist in the end unexpectedly lovely. And I looooove twisted endings. HAHA!
In my opinion, the downside of this movie is that most of their acts and magics were undeniably special effects. Let’s admit it, their performance was great but the mere fact that those were only made by a computer made it a little less awesome and somewhat pulls you back to reality when you think of it. Oh how I wish they could do it in real life and I would just be jumping up and down in excitement.
But forget about the downside. I’ll just focus on the fact that I enjoyed the tension, the twists, the plot, the characters and magic the most. I recommend this to everyone who loves to see cool things with magic with great casts and story. You will not regret it.
