[Confession] Four Sisters and A Wedding

I was feeling really lonely today only to find out I have enough money left so I decided to watch a new offering of Star Cinema directed by the very talented Cathy Garcia-Molina. It’s the FOUR SISTERS AND A WEDDING MOVIE!! I’m not really into Filipino movies since I find some movies too corny and/or not very realistic but anyhow, I live up to the challenge of trying this one since the trailer felt so good to watch!

So here’s a quick synopsis of the movie:

Star Cinema’s initial movie offering for its 20th anniversary celebration shares the story of the Salazar siblings namely Teddie (Toni), the eldest, who works as a teacher in Spain; Bobbie (Bea), who is now successful in New York; Alex (Angel), the third child who is a Manila-based independent film assistant director; Gabbie (Shaina), a school teacher who lives at home together with their mother; and CJ (Enchong) the youngest child who put all his sisters in shock when he announced that he is going to marry his girlfriend for three (correction, FOUR) months, Princess. After a few years of not being together as a whole family, Teddie, Bobbie, Alex, and Gabbie come together for the wedding and have agreed to dissuade their baby brother from marrying his fiancée. But as they interact with each other for the wedding, the Salazar siblings also face the feelings and issues they’ve tried to keep for the longest time. Are CJ’s four sisters not yet ready to let him go? Are they truly trying to fix their brother’s life? Or do they need to fix their own lives first? (src. Wiki)

Now moving, I actually find the movie interesting. It’s about four sisters reuniting once again because of the sudden announcement of their youngest brother that he will be having a wedding in 2 weeks. And once they got there, voila! - they didn’t want the wedding to happen! I was really laughing my head off because of the humorous scenes and lines presented there. The movie actually has the powerhouse of the top actresses of the generation today. I was laughing at first but was crying as the story goes deeper. Every time there would be a confrontation, I motion my handkerchief next to my eye to prevent even one drop from falling - cause at the corner of my eye, I can see my seatmate stealing glances (probably betting if I was weeping or not) but on that case, I was really moved. I really admire Bea this time. Her role was the hardest character to portray but she passed it with acting colors! On the other hand, Tony never fails to amaze me with her humorous nature and precise manner in speaking, she truly is a host material. Angel and Shaina also did great jobs though I think they really got short scenes but in that amount of time, they still got me clapping my hands at them.

And of course, I wouldn’t forget Enchong - the ‘bunso’ of the family. He is good, yeah, but sometimes he just really gets on my nerves in acting. But have no fear, he’s still good in this movie. BUT WHAT BOTHERS ME THE MOST, is the fiancee which they claimed to be 'chararat’ (ugly). The fiancee is nowhere near chararat, I tell you. She’s what her name demands her to be a PRINCESS. But in terms of shining shimmering fashion - yes, it’s chararat - but Angeline Quinto is never a chararat! <3

All in all, this is a very good movie that touches the most sensitive part of any Filipino’s heart - a Family. This is not corny neither unrealistic - it’s perfect. I do hope Star Cinema and Direk Cathy Molina offer lots of movies like this in the future! I’ll surely sacrifice my lunch money to watch it in cinemas! It’s still showing you guys~ Please watch!
