[Confession] Strong Woman Do Bong Soon Episode 1
Before anything else, I would like to define my drama reviewing:
First, I won't be posting episode recaps for dramas because i don't trust my character - I tend to get lazy when I have routines to accomplish and
Second, sometimes when I decide to watch a drama, I depend my continuance on the first episode. So if ever I am interested in a drama, I will watch the first episode and I will review it just to see how it goes. If I liked it, I'll have a continuation review after I finished the whole thing.
Kke, let's go! :D
Finally, a show I could fall in love with from the early teasers. This is rare, and I am relishing every moment of it. The show has a nutty, whimsical tone and surrealistic comedy with adorably odd characters—it’s like Amelie on crack.
Here is the synopsis of the drama:
Do Bong Soon is a young woman born with superhuman strength, who breaks everything she touches if she's not careful. However, she desperately wants to become a willowy and elegant woman, which is the ideal type of her crush In Guk Doo . Thanks to her strength, she gets the job of a bodyguard, to a spoiled rich heir An Min Hyuk, the boss of a gaming company. Opposite of Guk Doo, Min-hyuk is a crazy and odd man who is imperious and has no regard for rules.
One day, Bong-soon, Guk-doo and Min Hyuk gets caught up in a serial murder case that breaks in their neighborhood, and end up reluctantly living together for security purposes. A series of misunderstanding occur when Guk-doo mistakens Min Hyuk's affection.
So upon watching the first episode, I realized that the drama is anything but serious. Its concept of storytelling came directly from a comic book. How the power was transferred from one woman to another and what consequences it bears once you put it in an evil practice. Everything screams unreal.
I like Park Bo Young even before - she's a gift. I love that the heroine she plays is strange and assertive. Moreover, I love how Park Hyung-shik - the more reason why I am watching this - is taken with her pert, almost rude attitude in a way that feels almost bent. He's an oddball and has a cheeky demeanor. I'm curious if he'll be able to hide well under that smile. Whie Ji Soo, on the other hand, described as an energetic tsundere type who’s got boundless energy and only knows how to barrel forward. He cares for the heroine but he appears cold and ignorant. I laughed my ass off watching his undercover schemes. However, there's more I am looking for in his acting.
The bother I noticed maybe was the confusing transitions and out of the blue scenes. There were times where I was, "what happened? Why was he mad at him?" something like that. Also, the editing and the scoring appears to me that they want the drama to be comic and laughable - if they want it to be like that, maybe consistency is key. Even so, after knowing about a serial murder case chuchu, maybe they'll try and take the drama seriously. Maybe even more. Dunno.
So for now, I'm letting it go since it's the first episode. I heard there will be Bromance so I'll watch out for that as well. I enjoyed it but I enjoyed looking at Park Hyung Sik more - he's a bias wrecker. Hahahaha
